Now if you where facing an enemy who want your entire race dead and a guy who is rumored to be wanted by the very people that conquer your lands a few hunderd years ago. The same commonwealth that is directly reponsible for taking briska from the frostlings. The frostlings know very little of the world outside there own domain. Also Frostling Epilogue talks about seeing if Werlac's ramblings of power being there are true, plus the very fact that people have cannoncially kept abusing the remaing seals says there would be nothing stoping new natural gateways from opening now that Werlac resestablished a solid plain link. Shadowborn being the cannon book choice however makes sense. Plus Aravik has no reason to side with Werlac as Werlac has to keep fighting Melenis regardless or his precious shadow gate is destroyed.
